The bayan is a chromatic button accordion that emerged in the Russian Empire in the early 20th century, named in honor of the 11th-century poet Boyan.
Kuban bayans closely resemble the Tulski Bayan in both shape and quality, and they are regarded as some of the finest accordions produced in the Soviet Union.
